Discharge a Sign of Early Pregnancy?

Is brown discharge a sign of early pregnancy?

It very well could be.  Any discharge could be a sign of early pregnancy detection.  When a woman first becomes pregnant, her body still wants to have her period, and in some cases, the brown discharge is left over menstruation.

It is completely normal for women to have a thick, slimy discharge during pregnancy, and in most cases should not cause a worry.  The beginning and towards the end of the pregnancy is when you may notice heavier discharge.

That being said, there can be other causes for discharge, so make sure you talk to your doctor about anything that has you worried.  If you notice a foul odor you should certainly mention it to your doctor.  These symptoms are very similiar to yeast infections and other problems that if not taken care of can lead to health problems in the future.

If you have a yeast infection before you deliver your baby, this can throw a wrench in your delivery plans.  Many doctors may opt for a cesarean section because of the risks involved.

This post is not meant to scare you. As I said, in most cases, a brown discharge (or any abnormal disharge) can be an early sign of pregnancy.  You know your body.  If you feel something isn’t right, get it checked out.
